We’re not here to hand you cookie-cutter worksheets or gloss over the deep pain of miscarriage, postpartum mental health disorders, fertility challenges, or relationship strain in parenting.

Instead, we go straight into the real, messy intersections of reproductive mental health — where trauma, identity, culture, & family systems collide. That’s where true healing happens, and that’s where we meet you.

In other words, we create a safe space to hold the new — new identities, emotions, babies, roles, & realities.

We know life doesn’t fit into neat boxes. Reproductive care isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. The early days of parenthood bring joy, but they can also bring loss, change, & questions you never thought you’d have.

No matter who you choose from our team, we’ll sit with you in the hard stuff — birth stories that didn’t go as planned, relationships that feel different now, the reality of stigma after making the best choice for yourself, the grief that comes with change, & the messy middle of figuring out who you are. This is a space where all of it belongs.

"I am a C-section, birth-trauma-surviving, VBAC, foster, and adoptive mama of three. I've formula fed and breastfed. I've labored at a birthing center and at a hospital. I haven't lived through everything you have, but I think that's the beauty of sitting together and learning your experience."
What do you do for fun?
"If I had no responsibilities and free childcare, you could find me writing or reading in a cozy blanket for days on end. With a cup of coffee in hand of course."

Christian Stewart, LMSW

"It was not until I had my first child that I realized how mental health assistance relating to pregnancy, pregnancy-related mental illness, parenting, and intergenerational trauma is not easily accessible or discussed enough. Throughout my own journey and career, I have envisioned making a positive difference in the perinatal world.

Christian believes therapy should be beneficial, not another stressor. Balancing life, parenting, and everything in between is difficult enough.

Christian holds experience in the intersection of intergenerational trauma, neurodivergence, depression, and parenting. She is passionate about understanding how the family you were raised in impacts the family you are building.
What do you do for fun?
"I enjoy reading, watching documentaries on literally anything, and taking naps when I can squeeze one in."

You deserve care that sees the whole picture — not just the surface. We know that factors like race, gender identity, sexuality, socioeconomic status, & disability can shape reproductive experiences in powerful ways. Here you’ll find therapists who recognize those realities & are committed to creating a space where your story is honored without judgment.

At Holding New Therapy, we know reproductive journeys aren’t always what you imagined. Alongside the joy, there can be loss, exhaustion, anxiety, or a sense that everything about your world has shifted overnight.

As a practice, we believe:

Reproductive mental health is complex.

And we refuse to simplify it. Our clients’ experiences are layered, & we believe your sessions should reflect that. The perinatal journey isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience, and neither is our way of therapy. We tackle the complexity & nuance of reproductive mental health by our never-stop-learning approach sprinkled with being guided by our client's truths.

Healing after reproductive trauma requires more than coping skills.

Trauma doesn’t just live in memories — it shows up in the body, the nervous system, your decision-making, & your relationships. Reproductive experiences can intensify that impact. We don’t minimize or rush the process. Instead, we create a foundation of safety & choice at every step.

Your whole self belongs in the therapy room.

There’s no “right” way to build a family or embody an identity. Whether you’re queer, trans, polyamorous, grieving, parenting, or somewhere in between — you belong here. We welcome your complexity & provide a space where every layer of who you are can show up.

We believe healing is both science & relationship.

Science matters. So does connection. We weave together the best of neuroscience, attachment theory, & perinatal research with the human-to-human bond that makes therapy work. Because healing isn’t just about theory — it’s about being seen, understood, & transformed in a way that makes sense for you.

our value system within
perinatal therapy

We don’t treat symptoms in isolation. We consider your body, relationships, history, identity, culture, & environment. This isn’t just therapy — it’s holding space for your full humanity.

Reproductive Mental Health Is Whole-Person Work

We serve all people across the reproductive spectrum: birthing & non-birthing parents, loss parents, chosen families, disabled parents, foster & adoptive parents, & anyone who’s been told their story is “too much.” We challenge norms that leave people behind.

Therapy Should Be Inclusive, Not Idealized

We recognize how systems & -ism's — ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, fatphobia, classism — shape mental health. Healing isn’t just individual; it’s collective. We help clients find language, power, & permission to live authentically.

Social Justice Is A Therapeutic Goal

You don’t have to earn rest, wholeness, or support. We believe in care that nourishes, not just “fixes.”

Rest Is A Right, Not A Reward

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. If we’re not the best match for your needs, we won’t leave you hanging. We’re committed to helping you find care that does feel right, with referrals & resources we trust. Your healing matters more than holding onto a client.

We Know We May Not Be The Right Fit — & That’s Okay
