Parenting In Uncertain Times
(anyone is welcome)

A 4-week virtual support group designed to support parents & those planning to parent who are navigating the stress, uncertainty, & emotional weight of current & political events. This group is open to anyone currently parenting, expecting, or anticipating to parent, & is designed to offer practical tools, shared community, and coping strategies for supporting yourself & your family during unpredictable times.

Led by Kate Acton, LPC, NCC, this group blends discussion, evidence-informed strategies, & reflective exercises to help you find connection & make meaning in the midst of uncertainty.

  • This group is covered by the following insurances: BCBS, Aetna, United, ProviDRsCare, Ambetter, & Kansas Medicaid/Kancare.
  • If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance is not accepted, the group is pay-what-you-can to ensure access for all participants. (Maximum: $35)

Queer Parenting
(for parents at any stage)

A 4-week virtual support group for queer parents & those planning to parent who are navigating identity, community, family-building, & the emotional realities of raising children in a world that isn’t always affirming. This group is peer-led by queer midwife, Sus Jones, CPM, of Companion Midwifery.

This group blends open discussion, lived experience, & curriculum to foster community & confidence  — honoring the diversity of queer families & creating space for authenticity, gentleness, & mutual support as you navigate parenthood on your own terms.

  • The group is pay-what-you-can to ensure access for all participants. (Maximum: $35)
  • To help us maintain affordability for all participants, this support group is sponsored by Blue Heron Bodywork — Wichita-based massage therapy clinic specializing in prenatal, postpartum, & bereavement massage.

Invisible Struggles in Queer Family Building

A 2-hour virtual pop-up group for queer individuals & couples who are exploring family-building & want a thoughtful, affirming space to learn, reflect, & connect. This event is designed for those who are curious, planning, or actively navigating the path to parenthood & are seeking both practical information & a sense of community.

Hosted by queer midwife Sus Jones, CPM, of Companion Midwifery, this pop-up blends education, lived experience, & open discussion to support you through the many pathways to building a family. 

We’ll cover:
  • What have we been told about family-building?
  • Unique benefits of queer parenting
  • Common barriers to family-building as a queer parent
  • Invisible struggles & emotional labor
  • Where to start
  • What’s next in your journey

Together, we’ll explore the strengths of queer parenting, the systemic & personal barriers many families face, & the often-unspoken emotional realities of this journey—from someone who personally & professionally understands it.
